I think that I should get an A because I tried hard to do my spoken word because I really didn’t know how to make a poem or a rap. That was my first time doing a poem and I think that I did well on it. Some of my words rhymed on the poem while I was telling the background of the resilience people. I am really proud of what I did.
I think that my partner and me did well on connecting the two resilience people to what they both did. Our two resilience people that we did were George Benedict (Andrews grandfather) and Cesar Chavez. The connection that they both had was that they both we people who survived and overcame their childhood struggles.
I think that I did well on working on my lyrics for the song that I did that is called “ The Past”. For the song that I did I used facts to write the part of Cesar Chavez and I used Andrews help to write the part about his poem. I did do some rhyming.
For the book page I supported facts with evidence. I told how Cesar Chavez helped out a lot of people. I think that I did well on the book page also. I tried my best to do the book page right.

Project Reflection
Knowledge-Toolbox
For this project, I made the art piece and Nolberto wrote the song. Overall, on my artpiece I meet and maybe slightly exceeded expectation. I did not know what to make until Mrs. Staff brought in the light ficture that looked like a window. I got the idea of using it to show scenes from history. Because my priject was bigger than most I needed to stay after school a couple of days to get it done. In the end, I really like my art piece.
Presentation-Professionslism
My presentaion of my artwork was "professional". I dressed nicely and showed up at resience cafe`. I talked to all of the parents and 6th graders that came to see my artpiece. I think that most of the people that came to see my art piece understood what it represents and what its meaning is.
Polished Writing
I bieleve that I have a polished piece of writing. by reading my description and looking at my art piece can get what the meaning of my project is. The writing has no typos and has been edited by a few different people.
I am proud of my work on this project and I think that I meet the expectaions of the project.

100 word essay
My connection to Cesar Chavez is that he cares for mexicans and I do too. What Cesar Chavez cared the most for was for imagrents rights, and I think that it was good that he did that.If Cesar Chavez woulden't have lead in so many strikes to help raise the mexican wages then imagrants would probably would still be in the same place. The poem talks about Cesar Chavez and George Benedicts life at some hard times, or when they were helping some people out and setting rights. The poem also has information about the people and what they did to be resilience.

100(plus a little) word description
My artistic piece represents George Benedict (my grandpa), a holocaust survivor, and Cesar Chavez, a civil rights activist. The window, to me, represents looking back on history and remembering to keep the bad from happening again. In each of the four sections of the window I have drawn a scene from history. The first two scenes show kids before and during the holocaust. Before the holocaust the kids are having fun playing soccer (as Benedict did as a child). During the holocaust, the children were fighting to stay alive. The next two scenes show field workers in the fields and people living in a big house. These represent a group of people being mistreated and others benefiting from their hard work.

Connection to Art Piece
The connection to my art piece isthrough my Grandpa and soccer. One of our resilient characters is my granpa my connection to him, is that he happens to be my moms, dad. Another connection that I have is, in the picture that represents the period of time before the holocaust, it shows kids playing soccer. Both me and my Grandpa have played and watched a lot of soccer. My Grandpa has talked about being a free kid and playing soccer outside for hours at a time.
-Do you have any shared interest as a grandparent (old relative)?
-Do you know anything about what you parents were like, or what they did for fun as kids?

Art piece connection
The person that I think that most relatates to me from George Benedict and Cesar CHavez is Cesar chavez because he was strong all the way through his life. Cesar Chavez is a very important person to me because he helped alot of mexicans out coming to the U.S. and getting a better life.

My partner has done the paintings in the project. My plan for the this coming up week is to work more on our project and hope that the project will be nice.
Poem
on my poem I am going to talk about Goerge Benedict and Cesar Chavez. I am going to compare and contrast both of them. I will mention how they both sufferd during a difficult time. I get inspired by Cesar Chavez because he helped Mexicans get better wages when they had to work the fields.

Blueprint
I plan to get pictures off theinternet and then project them onto the scree. Then I will trace the pictures on 18" x 24" canvas. I will them paint the pictures and place them in their spots in the wood window frame.
I only got a little feed back on my blueprint but i did get a few good ideas. A main suggestion that I got was to try to paint the pictures in a Folk Art style. I think this will give my project an "older" more "dirty" look, as well as give me an excuse for having not particularly good looking paintings.

Cesar Chavez Quote
"We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own."
This quote is important because he is telling us to not forget about others and just move on with life but to help others progress also.

George Benedict Quote
"If I told you everything that happened, you could not believe it. Sometimes I can't believe it"
-George Benedict
This was said by George Benedict as he talked about his experiences in the holocaust and concentration camps. This shows resilients by him being here and able to say this. What he went through to be here is "unbelievable"

Cesar Chavez

Cesar Chavez was born on march 31,1927 in Arizona. As a child Cesar had a hard life because he had to work as a migrant farm worker, when he as in the ninth grade. Cesar Chavez had to start working because his dad had an accident and was unable to work, and he also diden't want to see his mother work in the fields. Then two years later he joined the navy and served a two year enlistment. In 1948 he married Helen Fabela and had 8 children. He started working in a latino civil rights groupin 1952. Then later became an civil rights activist who co-founded the National Farm Workers Association. He lead numerous improvments for migrant workers. To thank him for his accomplishments we now celabrate his birthday as a holiday. The holiday is celabrated in many parks, cultural centers, libraries, schools, and streets have also been named after Cesar Chavez. Cesar Chavez died in April 23,1993 with natural causes.
Cesar Chavez and George Benedict both connect because they suffered as children and then they both fought for rights and they came out living a good life afterwards.

George Benedict
George Benedict is a Holocaust survivor. In 1941, at the age of 14, George Benedict was put into consentration camps. During his four years in the holocaust, George was in different camps throughout Czechsolvakia, Germany, and Poland.
(More Information Coming)
My group is doing our project on George Benedict and Cesar Chavez. These two connect because they were both on the minority of a bad situation. They were both mis-treated because they were different from most people. However, both George and Chaves fought for their rights (and lives), and prevailed through the hatred.
